City Level winners of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17’ from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana felicitated in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 9th February 2018: The Tata Group felicitated the city-level winners of English, Telugu and Urdu editions of the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17 at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium in Hyderabad, on 9th February. The winners were shortlisted from over 2.7lakhstudents across 625 schools from the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The theme for the 11th edition of the essay competition was ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’. 140 English medium schools from four cities participated in the English edition, while 35 schools from one city participated in Urdu edition, 450 schools from 14 cities participated in the Telugu edition of the essay competition.

Winners were awarded trophies, gifts and certificates by Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Podile said ““I am sure that it was your self-belief & confidence which has made you come this far and cross many statge and emerge as winners. Help from yours teaches can help you cross some distance but it is your self confidence that has made you winners from among lakhs of students.

I am sure all of you will bring many such laurels to your school, your city and your nation in future.

Tata group has given an opportunity to each one of you to express your thoughts which will go a long way in making our country a happy and prosperous country.

This award you have won today is only a small step and all of you have more steps to climb to reach the top.”

The winning essays were evaluated and selected on the parameters of relevance to the topic, structure, creativity and communication of the idea. The winning essays at the city level will be further judged by a prominent jury for national level recognition. The final winners will get a unique opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and interact with a national dignitary.

Over the years, Tata Building India has encouraged students to express their thoughts on themes of national relevance, like Digital Technology for a Better India, Clean India, Global Warming and Climate Change, to name a few.

Started in 2006 as an English-language essay contest, Tata Building India School Essay Competition is organised to motivate and nurture young minds across India, and encourage them to think on the lines of nation building. Tata ClassEdge, a technology-enabled holistic instructional solution, conducts the competition in their select partner schools, as well.
