City Level winners of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17’ from Gujarat and Rajasthan felicitated in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, 20th December 2017:The Tata Group felicitated the city-level winners of English, Gujarati and Urdu editions of the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17 at the Senate Hall, Gujarat University, Navrangpura in Ahmedabad, on 20th December. The winners were shortlisted from over 3.2 lakh students across 730 schools from the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The theme for the 11th edition of the essay competition was ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’. 210 English medium schools from six cities participated in the English edition, while 20 schools participated in Urdu edition and 500 schools from 14 cities participated in the Gujarati edition of the essay competition.

Winners were awarded trophies, gifts and certificates at the ceremony held in the presence of Mr Krishnkant Rasiklal Unadkat, Magazine Editor, Divya Bhaskar, Ahmedabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mr. Krishnakant Unadakat, said, “My hearty congratulations to all the winners of Tata Building India Essay Competition. A wonderful initiative of the Tata group, this essay competition provides young minds a unique chance to pen their thoughts on different issues and challenges facing the country. While I am delighted to witness the increase in participation from across cities, it is immensely impressive that our youngsters are capable of understanding and opining on issues of national interest”.

The winning essays were evaluated and selected on the parameters of relevance to the topic, structure, creativity and communication of the idea. The winning essays at the city level will be further judged by a prominent jury for national level recognition. The final winners will get a unique opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and interact with a national dignitary.

Over the years, Tata Building India has encouraged students to express their thoughts on themes of national relevance, like Digital Technology for a Better India, Clean India, Global Warming and Climate Change, to name a few.

Started in 2006 as an English-language essay contest, Tata Building India School Essay Competition is organised to motivate and nurture young minds across India, and encourage them to think on the lines of nation building. Tata ClassEdge, a technology-enabled holistic instructional solution, conducts the competition in their select partner schools, as well.
