City Level winners of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17’ from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh felicitated in Indore

Indore, 13th December 2017:The Tata Group felicitated the city-level winners of English, Hindi and Urdu editions of the Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2016-17 at the Jaal Sabhagrah Auditorium, South Tukoganj in Indore, on 12th December. The winners were shortlisted from over 6.75 Lakh students across 1331 schools from the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The theme for the 11th edition of the essay competition was ‘Global Warming and Climate Change’. 131 English medium schools from 4 cities participated in the English edition, while 1200 schools from 34 cities participated in the Hindi edition of the essay competition.

Winners were awarded trophies, gifts and certificates at the ceremony held in the presence of Dr Rajeev Sharma, Dean of Journalism department, DAVV University, Indore. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajeev said “I would like to congratulate the Tata Group for organising the Tata Building India School essay competition, providing students with a platform to express their views on the issue of global warming. Initiatives like these play a major role in creating awareness amongst the younger generations. All the students who have participated in the competition have showcased their talent and capability which will play a key role in nation-building."

The winning essays were evaluated and selected on the parameters of relevance to the topic, structure, creativity and communication of the idea. The winning essays at the city level will be further judged by a prominent jury for national level recognition. The final winners will get a unique opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and interact with a national dignitary.

Over the years, Tata Building India has encouraged students to express their thoughts on themes of national relevance, like Digital Technology for a Better India, Clean India, Global Warming and Climate Change, to name a few.

Started in 2006 as an English-language essay contest, Tata Building India School Essay Competition is organised to motivate and nurture young minds across India, and encourage them to think on the lines of nation building. Tata ClassEdge, a technology-enabled holistic instructional solution, conducts the competition in their select partner schools, as well.
