2018-19
In the academic year 2018-2019, the essay competition is scheduled to start shortly. The theme for the 2018-19 edition is "Lessons for Modern India from Mahatma Gandhi". and It is targeted to reach out to 700 schools in 19 cities,

2017-18
The 9 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language is targeting to reach participation of 280000 students across 19 cities and 625 schools in Maharashtra. the theme for this year's competition is "New India @ 70 and your Contribution".
17-18-City level winners are identified and felicitated ,The process of evaluation for selecting National level winners are in progress.

The 8 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language witnessed a participation of 250872 students across 15 cities and 500 schools in Maharashtra.

2015-16
The 7 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language touched 236291 students in 15 cities and 500 schools in Maharashtra. The theme of 2015-16 edition was "Digital Technology for Better India". The city level winners have been felicitated in Pune.
The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, and senior leaders from the Tata group, with the national winners of the 2015-16 edition of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on January 12, 2018.
The national winners of the 2015-16 edition of Tata Building India School Essay Competition got a chance to meet the Honorable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and got a once in lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 12, 2018.
The young achievers were further felicitated by Mr. Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons Ltd at a function held on the same day in New Delhi.

The National Level winners for 2013-14 were felicitated on 4 th Dec. 2015 at New Delhi. and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

The theme for 2012-13 competition was "Science & Technology for India”. The winners at city level were felicitated in Mumbai. The National Level winners for 2012-13 were felicitated on 4 th Dec. 2015 at New Delhi and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them

The theme for 2011-12 competition was "Clean and Green Nation".The winners at city level were felicitated in Mumbai. The National winners got an opportunity to meet the President on 2nd April 2013 and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them. The topic was "How can you keep place you live in your home, your school a neat and clean place".
2010-11
The 2nd edition of this competition in the Marathi language was launched in October. Nearly 1 lakh students participated across 12 cities and 400 schools in Maharashtra.

2009-10
The TBI competition was extended to Maharashtra in 2009-10 for the first time. This competition in the Marathi language at Marathi medium schools was held across 12 cities in Maharashtra where almost 1.2 lakh students across 400 Marathi medium schools participated. Two regional felicitation events were conducted around October-November where the city winners were felicitated. The national level winners were felicitated by Dr. E. Sreedharan-the Metro Man of India, at Delhi on 12th October 2011.
